Capilla de San Juan de Dios

You will find the Capilla de San Juan de Dios in Calle de San Juan de Dios in Marbella’s old town. There is a board outside the chapel which provides details as follows:

“The chapel belongs to the Hospital of the Misericordia or San Juan de Dios and was constructed at the request of the Catholic Monarchs in the first half of the 16th century. The facade of the building is simple yet interesting, with a stone entrance containing a semicircular opening enclosed by a large wooden door with carvings of the coat of arms of Carlos III and the order of San Juan de Dios. The cornice is decorated with a row of spheres. The interior contains a magnificent mudéjar coffered ceiling.”
