London Global Gift Gala 2016 (7th edition)

The 7th edition of the London Global Gift Gala took place on Saturday 19 November 2016 to raise funds for the Eva Longoria Foundation, the Global Gift Foundation and UNAIDS.

The event was held this year at London’s Corinthia Hotel and it brought together fashion, music and TV celebrities to raise funds and improve the lives of children and women around the world.

Eva Longoria Bastón, Victoria Beckham and Maria Bravo hosted this prestigious event with a star studded guest list, which included the amazing Anastacia who was presented with the “Global Gift Our Heroes Award” for being an example of life, overcoming and social conscience to battle her disease.

The evening began with a welcome cocktail, whilst guests enjoyed the music of Collette Cooper and the magic of Archie Manners. Guests, including Alesha Dixon, David Beckham, Luke Evans, Pamela Anderson, Nicole Scherzinger, Laura Whitmore and Gordon & Tana Ramsay then enjoyed a fantastic dinner prepared by executive chef Adriano Cavagnini and further entertainment from Rebecca Ferguson, Craig David, the Honeyz, DJs Harriet Rose and Josh Parkinson, comedy from Jack Whitehall and a magical performance from Spanish magician Jorge Blass.

Maria Bravo, dedicated a few words to the guests:

“I am extremely thankful to see how we continue to help with so much success after every gala, improving the lives of those who need it most and bringing together such different personalities but all with a great common denominator – solidarity.”

Eva Longoria Bastón, host of honour and founder of one of the foundations benefiting from the event, said:

“I am absolutely delighted to return to London for the 7th Global Gift Gala. This charity event is an ideal time to recognize the great work of important figures who devote their time and energy to helping those who need it most.”

The three organizations benefiting from this year’s gala are the Eva Longoria Foundation (which focuses on women’s education, entrepreneurship and microcredit programmes for Latina women securing a better future for themselves and their families), UNAIDS (whose goal is to end the AIDS epidemic as a threat to public health) and the Global Gift Foundation.

Victoria Beckham, a UNAIDS ambassador said:

“I am proud to support my dear friend Eva at the Global Gift Gala in London this year and to have the honour of hosting the event as an international ambassador of UNAIDS. This is a wonderful evening in support of fantastic causes. In the case of UNAIDS, the funds will enable the joint United Nations Program on HIV/AIDS (UNAIDS), which leads and inspires the world to achieve its goal of zero new victims by the year 2030.”

The funds raised for the Eva Longoria Foundation will serve to follow strengthening entrepreneurship and micro-credit programs for women in Latin America and the United States, as well as to achieve a better future for themselves and their families through education.

Maria Bravo explained that the funds going to the Global Gift Foundation will be dedicated, as they are every year, to create a positive impact on the lives of children, women and families in need.

She said:

“We will continue with the work of the Casa Global Gift in Marbella where, thanks to these contributions and donors like Lola Karimova, we are making progress.”

María wanted to take advantage of this important philanthropic meeting to express her appreciation to all those people who make this gala possible.

“I believe I speak on behalf of all the present foundations when I say, every effort is important when it comes to helping those who need it most. And I don’t want to stop. Thank you all for your participation tonight. Together, we will continue fighting to make this world a better place.”

The final tradition during the evening was the charity auction led by Hugh Edmeades, consisting of luxury experiences including:

  • An invitation to spend an afternoon shopping with Victoria Beckham in her flagship London store.
  • Seven nights for two in Dubai at the five star Grosvenor House Hotel – which includes 2 seats at Eva Longoria Bastón’s presidential table at the next Global Gift Gala in Dubai on December 12.
  • David Beckham provided his personal box at Wembley Stadium which holds 12 people for the England vs Lithuania game.
  • Two tickets for the VIP box at Arsenal, which includes a guided tour by former player Robert Pires as well as a meet and greet with the players.
  • Two passes for Bernie Ecclestone’s Formula 1 Paddock Club for the entire 2017 season.
