Laude International College Charity Gala – a big hit

Laude International College in San Pedro de Alcántara held its annual charity gala on 31 March 2017. It was expected to be their biggest and best ever – a tall order, but the staff and students pulled out all the stops.

This annual event is an important fundraiser on the Costa del Sol, raising thousands of euros for local and national charities. The charity gala, now in its fourth year, is totally organized by the students and staff at the Laude International College.

So, what was the agenda this year!

With a Broadway theme, it again showcased the creative talents of Laude’s amazing students, along with some special performances by visiting acts. More than 500 people attended. Special guests this year included British Consul Charmaine Arbouin (President of the British Chamber of Commerce), representatives from sponsors and partners and local celebrity Nicole King from the Marbella Now TV programme.

This year, the funds raised will go to Aldeas Infantiles and Save the Children, both of whom provide vital services at a local and international level. Aldeas Infantiles work to give vulnerable children the best possible life. Save the Children work closely with children and their families to ensure the rights of children are protected.

The special guests, along with parents, teachers and members of the local community, were treated to a fast paced evening of live music, dance performances, a fashion show, and a luxury charity auction. The evening concluded with a fantastic performance by Magnet Man – a reggae band from Barbados.

Remedios López (Head of School) said: “It was a fantastic evening. It is always such a delight to open our doors to the local community and show them the work of our talented students. It is so satisfying to be able to help Aldeas Infantiles and Save the Children in this way.”

The years event was sponsored by a number of companies, including El Corte Inglés and Hard Rock Cafe. It raised thousands of euros for this year’s chosen charities.
