La Sala Banús’s Sunday lunch
MarbellaAzul.com was this week invited to review La Sala Banús’s Sunday Lunch menu. We were of course pleased to accept the offer.
This very popular venue in Nueva Andalucia offers a traditional Sunday lunch menu from October to June. There is a wide choice of starters, main courses and desserts and the cost is as follows: Single course for €15.95, two courses for €20.95 or three courses for €25.95. They also offer a children’s menu for the under 10s for €8.95 – which is of course very popular with families.
The terrace is wonderful at La Sala Banús. Unfortunately, the weather was unpredictable on the day we went, so we opted for a table inside. This is a large and stylistly decorated space with comfortable chairs and clean, crisp white linen on the tables.
We were initially offered something to drink and we then settled down to study the Sunday lunch menu Zoe Louise, a popular entertainer here in Marbella, was entertaining the diners with her chillout songs.
We were delighted with the options available on the menu – a well thought out selection to suit all tastes ( including vegetarian). Our drinks arrived accompanied by olives and lovely warm homemade bread and a very nice apertiser of chicken croquets and an aliole dip.
We decided to start with the smoked salmon parcel with lettuce, avocado and horseradish crème fraiche and the mushrooms on toast, tarragon and cream served on a toasted ciabatta with truffle oil and shaved pecorino. For the main courses, we chose the lamb shank and the roasted pork.
Although we were early (we arrived just after 1.00 pm), we were pleasantly surprised when the first courses arrived promptly. The restaurant was already very busy and it is never easy to deal with lots of people eating at the same time. Despite this, the staff were attentive and very happy to help.
The starters were served with great attention to detail and both were delicious. We would particularly recommend the salmon parcel – the mix of avocado and horseradish was sublime.
The main courses arrived and looked great. The lamb and the pork were both accompanied by roast potatoes, a selection of seasonal vegetables and the traditional Yorkshire pudding. We enjoyed the main courses, but we were a little concerned about the size of the portions – neither of us are big eaters and we had to keep some room for the dessert!!!
However, after a little rest whilst we enjoyed the music, we both opted for the Crème Brulée. Again, beautifully presented and delicious. The caramel top crisped to perfection and the crème as smooth as satin.
