Beach polo is a variant of the traditional game. Played on a smaller sand pitch which enables spectators to appreciate the speed of this sport at close range. The extra-large orange ball is designed not to get lost in the sand and flies around at high speed. On Sunday, the teams were the Perrier Jouet team in orange jerseys, the Perlage team in pink and the Kempinski team who wore white.
The excitement of this two day competition was enjoyed by all. The thrill and excitement of horses galloping on the sand with the Med as a backdrop, is a vision to remember. This informal setting enables Polo players to engage with the sponsors and spectators both on and off the pitch. To be able to be close to the horses and the players was a real treat. Watching at close hand the grooms walk and shower off the horses was very engaging.
