Suggs at Nutty Bar in Marbella
Two days after his appearance at the Gibraltar Music Festival with Madness, Suggs arrived in Marbella to give a special performance of his one man show on Tuesday 8 September at the Nutty Bar in the Puerto Deportivo.
The Nutty Bar’s Mark (AKA Wandsworth Harry) generously offered MarbellaAzul.com and RTV Marbella’s “Marbella Now” show two VIP tickets for the one man show as a competition prize. The question was “What was Madness’s first number one single in the UK?” The answer was of course “House of fun”. There were over 150 entries to the competition and the winner was announced on the “Marbella Now” show which aired on 3 September.
The winner was Joyce Whatmough from Marbella. After the announcement of the winner, Madness’s management upgraded the prize to include two free tickets to see Madness at the Gibraltar Music Festival on 6 September and we would like to take this opportunity to thank them for this.
Roz James from MarbellaAzul.com and “Marbella Now’s” Nicole King met the winner on the day of the one man show, having arranged a special meet and greet for them with Suggs just before the show started. Suggs was very generous with his time and presented the winners Joyce and her husband Peter with a bag of goodies which included a signed copy of his book, CDs and other memorabilia. Roz and Nicole were also able to meet Suggs and then it was off to the show.
None of us really knew what to expect. We had of course seen Suggs performing with Madness (notably here in Marbella’s bullring a few years ago), but this was something different. It was called “My story in words and music” and it was exactly that. Suggs gave us personal details of his life with his inimitable sense of humour, great timing and of course music. It was funny, entertaining and very moving. This delighted the packed Nutty Bar audience.
Thanks Suggs and don’t forget to look us up when you’re next in town!!!
