Marbella Global Gift Gala 2016 Press Conference

The press conference for the fifth edition of the Global Gift Gala weekend took place at the Hotel Gran Meliá Don Pepe here in Marbella on Wednesday June 22 2016. was of course there to bring you all the details and images for this amazing event.

Hazel Gormley-Leahy (international marketing director for the Global Gift Foundation) got things underway by introducing Marbella’s mayor José Bernal who said he was delighted to see this prestigious event return to Marbella for the fifth year running.

The Global Gift Foundation raises raises huge amounts of money for worthy charities in Marbella and throughout the world and this Gala is a 5 star event which helps promote Marbella internationally as a 5 star destination. He was followed by Victoria Morales, the Councillor for Social Rights.

María Bravo, (an international movie star who was born in Marbella) was then introduced as the heart of the Global Gift Foundation and she unveiled the programme for this year’s event.

This year’s philanthropic weekend will take place on 16 – 17 July and will raise funds for three foundations – Mensajeros de la Paz, the Eva Longoria Foundation & the Global Gift Foundation. Some of the largest international donors from the US, Kuwait, France and Russia will be here in Marbella for the event, together with the Godmother, Ambassador and Host of Honor Eva Longoria.

On 16 July, the Global Gift Party “La Soirée” will be at the Olivia Valere night club where guests will enjoy a dinner prepared by Babilonia Restaurant. There will also be live performances of Spanish flamenco by El Carpeta, Janelle Fischer and Tony Méndez.

On the morning of 17 July, the Casa Global Gift will be presented to international donors who will have traveled to Marbella especially for this occasion. They will have the chance to meet the little ones who will benefit from the centre and see the facilities due to be refurbished. Eva Longoria, Amaury Nolasco and other national and international celebrities will be there and some of the local companies involved will be able to make their donation in person.

The evening Gala will as usual be held in the gardens of the Hotel Gran Meliá Don Pepe with María Bravo and Eva Longoria. Amaury Nolasco and Belinda Washington will be the masters of ceremony. The guests will be able to enjoy the marvellous voices and music of Pitingo, Adrián Martín, India Martinez and Chenoa.

A sumputous meal will be prepared by Diego Gallegos, Oscar Velasco and Victor Carracedo, with desserts from Jean Phillippe Darcis. The Global Gift awards will be presented and there will be a live auction. There will also be a presentation of the first edition of the new Philanthropic Magazine “Global Gift Magazine”.

Rocio Galán (the Directora Gerente of the Hotel Gran Meliá Don Pepe) then welcomed the Global Gift Gala back to the hotel. The Meliá group is a firm supporter of the Global Gift Foundation and they provide complimentary accommodation, dining and facilities for the guests. Consequently, all the funds raised to go to the charities.

Rocio then introduced Chef Victor Carracedo, who told us about the Gala’s menu and he invited us to try the canapes specially produced for today’s press conference.

The press conference concluded with the presentation of a cheque for €2,500 from the Global Gift Foundation to the Multiple Sclerosis Association of Marbella. Dulce Cordoba del Rey (president of the association) was pleased to accept the donation and said it would help the association immensely.
