La Sala Banús re-opens with new look

MarbellaAzul.com’s Roz and Derek James were delighted to receive an invitation to La Sala Banús’s re-opening party on Monday 5 December following the popular restaurant’s complete transformation to bring you the ultimate social and dining experience. The FOC Design team were behind this total refurbishment, having designed La Sala Gibraltar and the Oak Restaurant.

None of the current vibe has been lost but has enabled extra seating it is still glamorous and chic. The restaurant now has a fresh and open feel, with design details providing a comfortable feel for diners. The main bar still has the DJ area and it will offer amazing entertainment from guest artists as normal. Check out the La Sala Banús website for up to date information.

On arrival, we were welcomed to a packed terrace and shown to a very comfortable press area in the newly named Live Lounge, which used to be the Piano Room. This area is totally transformed and so much better than it was before. Curved velvet booths lit from above creating an exclusive area for clients. Along with the cool colours, stunning chandeliers and a brand new bigger stage.

The first entertainers were the Menzillon Drum Duo. They never disappoint with their amazing drumming skills and they soon drew a crowd. There was a sax player in the main bar and of course the DJ sounds. This was followed by Masquerade. Linda and Danny are firm favourites at La Sala and many other venues on the coast. They entertained us with their hugely varied repertoire. The energetic Jackie Brown Band took to the stage, playing a popular selection of soul and reggae numbers from the 1970/80s and the dance floor began to fill.

The canapes were as usual delicious. We particularly enjoyed the spring rolls with ho sin sauce, the large breaded prawns, the selection of sushi, the delicious Peking duck in pancakes and dim sums.

The La Sala staff are always amazing, happy to help and they join in with everyone. The charming Phillipa looked after us and made the evening even more enjoyable – for which we thank her. The bar staff even managed the odd dance behind the bar, even though they were busy all evening.

The kitchen then offered us mini shepherds’ pies, burgers and fish & chips in cones.

Full as always we took a break out on the terrace to speak to some of the regular customers. They all seemed to be delighted with the changes and were pleased that their favourite venue had re-opened.

Thank you La Sala. It was a wonderful evening. The restaurant and bar looks amazing and we will certainly be back soon.
