Foreigner is a UK/US rock band formed in 1976 by Mick Jones (guitar), Ian MacDonald (guitar) and Lou Gramm (vocals). The other original members were Dennis Elliott (drums), Al Greenwood (keyboards) and Ed Gagliardi (bass guitar). The band’s name was Mick Jones’s idea – they were based in New York and three of the original band members were British. To date, they have released 9 studio albums and 39 singles.
Their best known song is “I want to know what love is” which topped the singles charts in the US, the UK and in many other countries around the world. “Waiting for a girl like you” has the dubious distinction of only getting to number 2 in the US singles chart and then staying there for ten weeks. Their albums have sold more than 50 million copies worldwide.
George Benson is a renowned US guitarist and singer-songwriter who has been making records for over 50 years. Between 1964 and 2013, he released 36 studio albums. George Benson will be playing at the Puente Romano Tennis Club in Marbella on July 21 2017.
On Saturday 6 August, British rock band the Kaiser Chiefs played the Auditorio Principe de Asturias in Torremolinos – an event arranged by Crazy Music Productions. The band’s line-up was as usual Ricky Wilson (Vocals), Andrew White (Lead Guitar), Simon Rix (Bass Guitar), Nick Baines (Keyboards) and Vijay Mistry (Drums).
They played for just under two hours and included most of their hits including “Every day I love you less and less”, “Never miss a beat” (my favourite), “Everything is average nowadays”, “The angry mob” and of course their classic anthem “I predict a riot”.
The Kaiser Chiefs, one of the UK’s top rock bands, will be appearing at the El Pozuelo Football Ground in Torremolinos on 6 August 2016 – just one of the amazing concerts on the Costa del Sol this summer.
Over the last twelve years, they have had a whole series of hit singles including “Oh my God”, “I predict a riot” (named as one of the top 40 indie anthems by New Musical Express), Every day I love you less and less”, “Ruby” (a UK number one). “Everything is average nowadays” and “Never miss a beat”. They have also made five studio albums – “Employment”, “Yours truly, angry mob”, Off with their heads”, “The future is medieval” and “Education, education, education and war”. They have also won three Brit awards.
Marbella is renowned for hosting concerts in the summer months. This week was no exception when the beautiful setting of the Puente Romano Tennis Club hosted one of the world’s most talented singers, Seal.
Attracting a sell-out audience, the 1990’s singer delivered a spectacular ensemble of famous hits, music from his new album “Seven” and cover songs from his appearance in the American music television special “The Passion – New Orleans.”
With the support of singer/songwriter Paul Maxwel having done a superb job of warming up the crowd, Seal took to the stage and kept up the momentum as he launched into his first hits “Crazy” and “Killer” to which most of the audience were on their feet dancing. Then, to show off his musical diversity, he calmed down the pace and mesmerized the crowd with powerful performances of “Do you ever” and “Waiting for you.”

Seal was born in Paddington, London in 1963. In the 1980s, he sang in local clubs and bars, and in 1987 he joined a British funk band called Push and went on tour with them to the far east. In Thailand he joined a blues band for a while before separating from the group and travelling throughout India on his own. On his return to the UK, he asked a friend “Do I sing well?” and he was told he was better than most current artists.
Two days after his appearance at the Gibraltar Music Festival with Madness, Suggs arrived in Marbella to give a special performance of his one man show on Tuesday 8 September at the Nutty Bar in the Puerto Deportivo.
The Nutty Bar’s Mark (AKA Wandsworth Harry) generously offered MarbellaAzul.com and RTV Marbella’s “Marbella Now” show two VIP tickets for the one man show as a competition prize. The question was “What was Madness’s first number one single in the UK?” The answer was of course “House of fun”. There were over 150 entries to the competition and the winner was announced on the “Marbella Now” show which aired on 3 September.
The fourth Gibraltar Music Festival will take place this year on 5 – 6 September 2015. It will again be held at the Victoria Stadium, close to the airport to the north of the town and it is easily accessible from mainland Spain.
GMF 2014, with Rita Ora and the Script headlining, was a huge success. More than 10,000 people attended. Consequently, this year’s festival has been extended to two days and and this year´s headliners will be Duran Duran and the Kings of Leon. Other acts booked include Estepa, Tom Odell, the Feeling and Lawson, with more to be confirmed. According to a spokesman, the festival will have more than fifty acts.
This year´s Starlite Festival in Marbella will be held between 22 July and 22 August at La Cantera de Marbella, Carretera Istán.
La Cantera de Marbella is a quarry holding a unique open air amphitheatre surrounded by the beautiful nature that is Andalucía. Starlite brings together a complete programme of unique concerts, cinema premiers, fashion shows, art exhibitions and gastronomy from the five continents. Entrepreneurs Sandra García-Sanjuán and her husband Ignacio Maluquer consolidated the project and generated more than 270 jobs and an economic impact of 40 million euros.
The spectacular hit show “Music of the Night” will be returning to Marbella this year by popular demand. The show has enjoyed sell-out performances for the past couple of years at a number of venues in the Marbella area including the Starlite Festival, the H10 Andalucia Plaza in Marbella and the Mijas Auditorium.
In 2015, there will be an exclusive season of five shows at the H10 Andalucía Plaza Hotel in Puerto Banús, Marbella including the best of the musical theatre, opera and classical shows – “West End Musicals in Concert”, “Encore! Tenors” and “The Best of Broadway”. Every “Music of the Night” performance is different. incorporating songs from different musical theatre productions and by different classical composers in each show.
